Emma's internship at Janus
In the summer of 2023, while I was in the middle of my internship in digital sales in Stuttgart, I realized that I wanted to try something new and see the world before starting my career. Thanks to my interest in people and personal development, I stumbled upon the internship at Janus quite by chance. Then everything happened very quickly: Determined to make the most of this opportunity, I moved to Munich on the spur of the moment to broaden my horizons. I’ve been with Janus in Aying since October and am living here in beautiful Munich.
From day one, my internship at Janus has been a very enriching practical experience as I prepare to enter the workforce after completing my bachelor’s degree. Right from the start, the entire team welcomed me with warmth, and I was able to immediately immerse myself in the open and supportive atmosphere.
My responsibilities as an intern include a wide range of administrative tasks, such as preparing for and following up on seminars and workshops, as well as supporting the core team with social media and day-to-day office tasks. I create presentations for the trainers, redesign seminar materials, and assist with smaller projects. In addition, I’m a welcome sounding board for the concerns of Generation Z.
What impressed me: While participating in the seminar “Conducting Difficult Conversations,” facilitated by Christian, I got to experience his process-oriented and unique approach to designing seminars and adapting them directly on-site to the client’s needs. During various other observations, I’ve come to understand the thoroughly challenging task trainers face: supporting clients in their personal and professional lives to the best of their ability and showing them new paths forward. This also helps me better assess for myself whether I’d like to stand in front of a group someday and what steps I’d still need to take to get there.
What I really appreciate here: Every day (seriously 🤩) brings new challenges, and I love that I get to continuously discover and learn new things here. Independent, self-directed work is actively encouraged and supported, so I have no choice but to keep growing personally. And if I ever have my own ideas, I’m free to bring them up and implement them at any time, provided the others are also convinced by them. That’s what I call working as equals!
The experience that misjudgments and small mistakes are welcomed as part of a development process to ultimately achieve the best result has also helped me a lot to quickly settle in at Janus and integrate myself. And in general: The fact that I was treated as an equal member of the team from the very beginning, that my work is regularly appreciated, and that I receive feedback—that alone makes the daily “trip” to Aying worthwhile.
