Tina's internship at Janus

My internship began in early April, and as is typical of German spring, it was still quite wet and cold. That made me all the more delighted by the warm and welcoming way I was welcomed into the team. I would especially like to thank Paula Gasser, who has been a truly attentive mentor to me.

My responsibilities consist of various administrative tasks. I serve as the point of contact for the entire team, handle the preparation and follow-up for seminars, process and send out seminar materials, and keep an eye on the office and its surroundings.

There are many opportunities in this internship. I’m only gradually discovering exactly what those “opportunities” are😊. I find it particularly exciting to gain direct insights into seminars and training sessions. It is especially valuable to get to know the different “styles and approaches” of the trainers in order to broaden my own personal perspective. I also welcome moments of confusion, as they can trigger profound insights and a desire for change within me. And that can be a very powerful motivator and source of energy for me.

My highlights so far have definitely been observing a leadership training session and participating in the Group Dynamics seminar. During the training, I didn’t just observe with fascination; I was also able to influence and help shape the process myself, both in terms of design and facilitation. For that, I am very grateful to Moritz Rittmeyer and Wolfgang Pape. The “Group Dynamics” seminar was my absolute highlight. To be honest, I was initially concerned that the seminar would be too theory-heavy and that I might get bored. I was convinced of the exact opposite right from the very first evening. At the beginning, all the participants were cautiously observing. But the seminar very quickly created a space that literally invited me to push the boundaries of my comfort zone and then cross them. The great thing about it was that this space was held by both the trainers and every single participant, creating a genuine sense of safety. It was a wonderful experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend to everyone.

There’s one thing I’ve learned even more deeply during my time at Janus: personal responsibility and initiative. So much is possible… and it’s up to me to bring my wishes, ideas, and needs to the table and make them heard. It’s a wonderful learning environment to practice exactly that.

Janus is diverse—I’ve met different and unique people, and in some of them, I’ve found great conversation partners. This diversity has another benefit: honest feedback from different perspectives. In any case, I have many opportunities here to get to know myself a little better.

Dear Janus community, thank you for this time and for the often very interesting conversations. It has been and continues to be a pleasure for me. Janus is now a part of my journey.
