Interview with Frank
What have I learned the most from?
I have always learned the most in situations where I have engaged with something completely new. It wasn't always amusing or easy, but the feeling of having mastered a challenge is, for me, the best motivator for the next experiment. I also learn more every day: from clients, my children, colleagues. It is very important to me to maintain curiosity about new things. A significant experience for me was a year-long stay in the USA when I was 16 years old. What I learned there still shapes me today.
Why did I become a trainer / consultant?
With nearly 20 years of professional experience, it was time for me to pursue my passion in a different way. I want to contribute to making people and organizations more successful and achieving their goals more powerfully and with greater ease. In my previous roles, there was always a high consulting component, but as an internal consultant and coach, maintaining the necessary neutrality and professional distance was sometimes difficult. At the same time, this experience in companies now helps me to better understand my clients' world. Especially in the context of change processes, the connection of my own international leadership experience with coaching and consulting expertise is ideal, and I notice that clients benefit from it as well.
What project is waiting to be realized?
The first thing that comes to mind is the long-planned cleanup operation in our basement... Professionally, I am currently busy writing a book on the topic of resilience.
What is particularly important to me?
It is important to me that people follow the call of their hearts and do what truly fulfills them. I try to live this and also convey it to my clients. Often, it doesn't require a complete overhaul of one's professional and private life, but rather a more conscious decision for the things that are truly important to one.
Who / what can I not stand at all?
People who express themselves in a disrespectful and condescending manner about others to fuel their own grandiosity... That’s where I hit my limits ;-)
What experience has shaped my career as a coach the most?
The discovery of Achtsamkeit as a resource for decision-making power and creative joy. Initially, I suspected that Achtsamkeit would be the part of my training that I would find least useful, but it has now developed into one of my core themes. My initial concern was that Achtsamkeit would somehow slow down my life. However, I discovered that while Achtsamkeit forces me to be still, it accelerates the process of getting to the real core issues, both in private life and especially in organizations.
