Interview with Martina

What have I learned the most from?

Professionally, I have learned a lot in situations where I had a lot of freedom and responsibility because people believed in me. My first leadership role during the "Aufbau Ost" in the early nineties during my time at the bank and my entry as a managing director and partner at Janus many years ago have particularly shaped me in this regard. I have learned the most about myself when I had to "digest" defeats or setbacks - when life showed its less sunny side. These events have always been meaningful learning fields for me and often turned out to be important turning points in my life (for which I am very grateful!).

Why did I become a trainer / consultant?

Because it is the profession that connects accompanying people and my own learning in an exciting way.

What project is waiting to be realized?

Many come to mind. I want to be modest here: In the summer, I want to cycle to work more often (that's a sweaty 40 km...) and do a crossing of the Alps on foot from Munich to Venice (which takes about 6 weeks in one go – I envision tackling this project bit by bit with my husband and son).

What is particularly close to my heart?

Matters of the heart for me always have to do with "growth and flourishing." Whether it's about Janus as a company, the people in it, our clients, my own development, or the plants in my (admittedly small!) garden.

Who / what can I not deal with at all?

People who do not question themselves and their own actions, who go through life without humor, or who are unscrupulously focused on their own advantages are difficult for me.

What experience has shaped my development as a coach the most?

Certainly many situations during my coaching training at Janus ;-) It was partly a real "firework of insights" for me – personally and methodologically and the beginning of an intense learning journey. Today, the most important and fulfilling experience for me as a coach is when I bring people, situations, and topics into motion. When I see how my interventions unleash insight and problem-solving power in my counterpart. Seemingly small steps often lead to surprising results. What has shaped me over the years is the deep trust that the client has everything available to find their own suitable "step length" for their further development...
