Interview with Stefan
What have I learned the most from?
For me, there is not one big learning event – but rather a whole web of events, people, and circumstances. Simplified, the main lessons so far are probably:
- Bundeswehr – “Cohesion and the effects of power (powerlessness),”
- Studies – “learning to learn and wrestling with the inner critic,”
- Trainer training – “people are unique and follow their own calling,”
- first leadership role – “practice is not theory and conflicts are part of progress” and
- my wife & my son: “power of love and the miracle of life.”
These lessons are by no means complete for me, and I am excited about those that will still come. One thing is clear to me: I will never be done learning.
Why did I become a trainer / consultant?
Good question – especially since I did not know the profession of a trainer for a long time. The decisive factor was my first personality training during my banking education. There, I first experienced as a participant how exciting and valuable it is to accompany people to themselves. When possible paths are discovered and taken, something wonderful emerges. Supporting this search and these paths ultimately became my calling.
Which project is waiting to be realized?
As an enthusiastic hobby photographer, I dream of presenting my collected works in a gallery or a photo book one day. Perhaps I will also find a way to integrate photography into my work as a trainer.
What is particularly close to my heart?
Besides my family, it is mainly the great joy of witnessing how people (continue to) develop.
With whom / what can I not get along at all?
With people who cling solely to their own opinion – without the willingness to consider other perspectives at all. In my conviction, genuine understanding only arises through the exchange of different perspectives. Without this basis, good collaboration cannot function.
Which experience has shaped my career as a consultant and trainer the most?
Clearly the coaching program here at Janus. The mix of in-person seminars (to engage with one’s own personality and acquire effective methods), regular supervisions (for reflection on one’s own implementation), and the exchange with other coaches from various industries (for mutual learning) has paved my way.
That is why I am so glad that I have returned to Janus and am now a part of the Janus path myself.
