Goals

It is usually the biggest challenge for aspiring coaches, especially those who are also managers, to stay one step behind their coachees, to be with themselves and at the same time with the other person, to ask rather than answer, to show spaces rather than push into (new) spaces, to be present rather than present (themselves).

Contents and Guiding Questions

You will experiment with a set of proven forms of questions and interventions and fill your own personal toolbox. You will begin to understand what the difference between coaching and leading is - or could be even more so - in everyday management practice and gain clarity about your own personal areas of learning and development as a coach. You will not be finished after this seminar (are we ever?), but you will have the tools to become a full-time coach or to add significant value to your employees and your company as a coaching manager. You will have matured personally.

  • Coaching process and contract – What needs to be considered when planning, preparing and conducting individual coaching sessions? What are good goal formulations and agreements with coachees?
  • Coaching process – How do I develop and validate coaching interventions and measures? How and when do I conclude coaching sessions, planned or unplanned?
  • In contact – Which of my attitudes and behaviors promote contact with coachees and have a positive effect on their motivation?
  • In conflict – How do I deal with and utilize conflicts with coachees? What might they indicate to me?
  • Typical coaching traps – What should not happen to me too often? And if it does happen, what then?

Benefit for your Company

Do you really want your managers to have coaching skills? - Then you should offer your managers this seminar. You will get back managers who

  • have a much greater command of the management keyboard,
  • are able - without manipulation - to get the best out of “their” employees,
  • can provide stability for themselves and others in times of crisis,
  • are prepared to effectively support “difficult” employees and colleagues and
  • can use their resource- and solution-oriented perspective to ensure that your company is life-friendly and efficient.

Final interview with Peter Kugler, DAIKIN Airconditioning Germany GmbH about the training CoachPERSONALITIES

How did you experience the coaching training? Was it as you imagined?

  • I found the coaching training incredibly enriching. Since I started the coaching training at the age of 28, my focus was solely on personal development. It was about getting to know myself better, and that was fully achieved with Janus. There was always an incredibly familiar and appreciative atmosphere that made all the seminars real experiences. Initially, I couldn't imagine much about this training, but in retrospect, I can only recommend it to everyone!

What have you been able to implement during the training?

  • Since I work in human resources, many topics of a coaching training are closely related to everyday work as a "HR person." However, in a medium-sized structured company, one must analyze carefully whether learned methodologies, etc., are applicable, as we all know each other very well here and the conditions for coaching are not always present.

Looking back, what was the most important thing for you – was there a "milestone" along the way?

  • There were milestones in every seminar I attended. But when I look back at the course of the training, I think the biggest milestone is my "Personal Development," which has been my top priority from the very beginning.

What are your plans now with the graduation?

  • Of course, one also thinks about what to do with this graduation. Since I am currently absolutely satisfied in my job, I am not planning any changes here. However, as I have a great affinity for sports, especially football, I am currently working on a concept that connects football and coaching in a certain way. In my view, there is still a great potential in this area that is not yet fully exploited, even among professional clubs. Answering the question of why highly talented footballers do not always "bring their performance to the field" drives me. And that is what I am working on! :-)

Feedback on the Coaching Training for Personalities from 2016 by Joachim Keßler, Deputy Forest Operations Manager at the Bavarian State Forests

How did you experience the coaching training? Was it as you had imagined?

  • The training at Janus was excellent. It was very demanding and intense. I felt that I learned a lot for myself in all the seminars. The trainers are incredibly competent and dedicated.

What were you able to implement during the training?

  • On one hand, I was able to continue working on myself, and on the other hand, I could try out various coaching methods and apply them with others.

Looking back, what was the most important for you – was there a "milestone" along the way?

  • Especially for me, the transition from the personality seminars to the method seminars was significant. There I learned how coaching can work and discovered ways to work with it myself. A great feeling.

What are your plans now that you have completed the training?

  • I will be assigned to various tasks by my employer. I am looking forward to that.
